Our Story

Since 2017, Headland Collective has been driven by a deep love and respect for the planet—and everyone on it. We channel that passion into every story, fusing eco-conscious filmmaking with one-of-a-kind creative vision.

Headland is a full-service, eco-conscious production company specializing in editorial and advertising photo shoots, short films, and digital content. From pre-production through delivery, we integrate sustainability at every step: reducing carbon emissions through optimized travel, prioritizing renewable energy and responsible waste policies on set, and sourcing local talent and materials. Our team and collaborators can trust that every person and place involved is treated with utmost respect.

We believe preservation is part of the creative process—not an afterthought. That’s why we seamlessly integrate environmental responsibility into the fabric of each production, all while maintaining competitive rates.

Founder

HEADLAND was founded by New York native Christopher Labzda, who brings over 20 years of experience in the commercial and fine art worlds—both at home and abroad. Before assembling the collective, Christopher helped shape Manhattan’s Lower East Side art scene through his gallery, ToomerLabzda. He later launched, directed, and lectured for the MA in Fashion Photography program at the School of Visual Arts, and co‑founded the New York Fashion Film Festival, elevating this evolving genre on a global scale.

Christopher has lectured on art hisy and theory at universities, museums, and cultural institutions worldwide—including Pepperdine, Florida Atlantic, Syracuse, James Madison, Lawrence University, Wingate, Tate Britain, Tate Modern, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Photographers’ Gallery, The Courtauld, the National Portrait Gallery (UK), Pratt, Parsons, and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art. He earned his MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London. And when he’s not on set or in his studio, you’ll most likely find him surfing in the ocean.
